She was born June 10, 1920, in the town of Anson, Chippewa County to Anna (Christensen) and James P. Larsen. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1939. In her earlier years she worked at several different jobs including the Chippewa Woolen Mill and Skogmo's Caf
