Junior Bateman

Junior G. Bateman, 82, of the town of Lafayette, Chippewa Falls, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Chippewa Manor Nursing Home in Chippewa Falls.

He was born September 12, 1927 in the town of Anson to Naomi (Boettcher) and George Bateman. He was raised in the town of Anson where he attended the Pine Grove School and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1945. He then worked for his uncle, John McIlquham in the Lafayette apple orchards.

Junior served in the U.S. Navy from January 9, 1947, serving in the Pacific Theatre, until being honorably discharged in January 9, 1952.

He married Kathryn Luedtke on January 13, 1951 in San Diego, CA, while serving in the Navy. After his discharge, they returned to Chippewa Falls and he has been a resident of the town of Lafayette since that time. He farmed in the Bateman area and later on County Highway J in the town of Lafayette. Kathryn preceded him in death in August, 1968.
