Katherin J. Blaha, 95, of Chippewa Falls, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Home Suite Home Assisted Living in the town of Tilden, where she had been a resident for the past five years.

She was born December 19, 1917 in Pigeon Falls to Martha (Nordby) and Herman Hanson. She was raised in Pigeon Falls where she attended school.

Katherin married Paul J. Blaha on October 26, 1939. They resided in Pigeon Falls, York and Blair until moving to Whitehall in 1945. In 1950, they moved to Chippewa Falls, where Katherin was employed at the Chippewa County Hospital and then at the Golden Age Home until her retirement in 1980.

She was a Charter Member of Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls.

Survivors include a daughter, JoAnn Rein of Chippewa Falls; a son, Albert (Merlene) Blaha of New Auburn; six grandchildren, Ross (Annabelle) Rein of Eau Claire, Jason Rein of Chippewa Falls, Michelle (Daryl) Travis of Holman, Kevin (Chrystal) Blaha of New Auburn, Mark Blaha of Bloomer, Steven (Lydia) Blaha of Holman; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Rein, Kyla Blaha, Paul Anderson; sister-in-law, Helen Blaha of Arcadia; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul on July 6, 1963; a son, Maynard in infancy; a brother, Thilman Hanson; three sisters, Myrtle Riphenburg, Harriet Davidson, Doris Dean; a son-in-law, Pat Rein; and a brother-in-law, George Blaha.

A funeral service celebrating Katherins life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 26 at Peace Lutheran Church of Pigeon Falls, (formerly Evangelical Lutheran Church of Pigeon Falls), 13083 Main St., Pigeon Falls, WI with the Rev. William Plautz, officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Pigeon Falls.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated and may be designated to Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls.

AFTERSERVICE:

A funeral service for Katherin J. Blaha, 95, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 26 at Peace Lutheran Church of Pigeon Falls. The Rev. William Plautz of Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls officiated and music was provided by Teckla Baken. Interment followed at Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Pigeon Falls. Casket bearers were Ross Rein, Daryl Travis, Charles Fremstad, Kevin, Mark and Steven Blaha.
