He was born November 25, 1963 in Chippewa Falls to Joan (Sikora) and Eugene Ziehr. Keith grew up in Chippewa Falls and graduated from McDonell High School in 1982. Following high school, he continued his education at CVTC and graduated with a degree in Machine Tool Technology.

Together they had three children and resided in Chippewa Falls, where Keith worked as a firefighter/EMT for the Chippewa Falls Fire Dept. retiring from there on May 31, 2014. While working at the fire dept., he enjoyed doing yardwork for people and took great pride in his work. Over time, he had many regular customers and following his retirement, his "hobby" became a full time career and he started Chippewa Valley Stump Removal, which he currently owned and operated.
Besides his love for the outdoors, Keith also enjoyed bicycling, working out, playing with his dogs, Oakly and Pudge, and having breakfast at the Chippewa Family Restaurant several times per week with Melissa. He loved his family dearly and cherished time spent camping, grilling out, laughing, and biking.
