Private family services were held
Kenneth R. Weltzin, 76, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at St Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn., surrounded by family.
Ken was born May 23, 1940, in Cadott to Roy and Alma (Grewe) Weltzin. He attended Cadott High School and graduated May 28, 1958. Following high school he attended vocational school classes for machine shop, electrical, and welding.
In August, 1958 he began working at Fireproof Products Company in Cornell as a foreman. He joined the Army Reserves in 1962 and was honorably discharged December 28, 1968 as Sergeant of the Motor Pool.
He married the love of his life, Loretta Brown, on August 3, 1963 in Cadott. Together they raised five children.
On April 22, 1967 he left his position at Fireproof Products Company and began his career at Sterling Pulp and Paper Company in Eau Claire. He worked at the paper mill for over 34 years, retiring on August 31, 2001 as Supervisor of the landfill and land spreading department.
Ken enjoyed hunting and fishing at the cabin, fishing trips to Canada, and spending time with his family.
Ken is survived by his wife of 53 years, Loretta; five children, Kenneth Weltzin Jr. (Dana) of Eau Claire, Kim Weltzin (Ruth), Kathy (Matthew) Hering, Kevin (Brenda) Weltzin, and Kristine Golden (Navin) all of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Derek and Victoria Golden, Katie (Chandler) Lauer, Tyler Weltzin, Brian, Kurt and Michael Weltzin, and Alissa and Matthew Hering; great-grandchild, Lincoln Lauer; brothers, Vern (Keryl) Weltzin of Eau Claire, and Fred (Angie) Weltzin of Cadott; sisters, Ruth (Jon) Kuehni of Red Wing, Minn., and Darlene (Paul) Schade of Hager City, Wis.; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family services were held. Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery in the village of Lake Hallie.
Ken was a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be truly missed by all.
Memorials are preferred to the Chippewa Falls Parks and Recreation, in memory of Kenneth Weltzin, for a memorial in Irvine Park.
