Donald A. Knutson, 72, of Chippewa Falls, died Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

He was born December 12, 1941 in Graceville, MN to Adelia (Thompson) and Arnold Knutson. He grew up on a farm in Ortonville, MN and graduated from high school there.

Don continued his education at the University of Minnesota, earning a Bachelors degree in Animal Science. He had a lifelong career as a sales rep. for an animal health company.

On September 1, 1963, Don married his high school sweetheart, Donna Hasslen. Dons career took the couple to live in Buffalo, NY, Worthington, MN, and finally settling in Chippewa Falls in 1972. Don may have retired in 2007, but the connections he made while working kept him busy stopping to visit former clients on the many road trips he and Donna took back and forth to Ortonville. He was a true people person and had an infectious, likeable personality.

Don also loved to play golf, go fishing and played on the old mans hockey team, the Strohs Flyers, in Chippewa Falls. He was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Donna of Chippewa Falls; two sons, Darren (Leanne) of Bloomer, Derek (Jennifer) of Frankfort, IL; a sister, Barbara Record of Hopkins, MN; five grandchildren, Jessica Hole, Kristine, Nicole, Emily and Connor Knutson; and a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Maddie Hole.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, May 5 at Christ Lutheran Church, 467 E. Colome St., Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Mark Homp officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Eidskog Cemetery in Ortonville.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

AFTERSERVICE

A memorial service for Donald A. Knutson, 72, of Chippewa Falls was held at 1 p.m., Monday, May 5 at Christ Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Mark Homp officiated and music was provided by organist, Marilyn Brace and vocalist, Peter Lea. Interment will be at a later date at Eidskog Cemetery in Ortonville, MN.
