LaVerne Spry

She was born Nov. 15, 1916, in Schofield to Alma (Sternberg) and Michael Miedaner. She grew up in Marshfield and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1935. She attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison and then became employed for Weinbrener Shoe Company. She was later employed for the Farm Security Administration in Marshfield and Wautoma.

LaVerne married Russell R. Spry on Aug. 8, 1942, at St. James Catholic Church in Amherst. They resided in Marshfield and Colby, moving to Chippewa Falls in 1947, where her husband began employment at Leinenkugel Brewery. She was employed part time for the Chippewa Falls Chamber of Commerce, the Chippewa Area United Way, and for the Rutledge Home. She moved to the Chippewa Manor Retirement Community in July 2002.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Beth (David) Spooner and Patricia Mrozinski, all of Chippewa Falls; two sons, Russell "Rusty" Spry of Eau Claire, Thomas Spry; three brothers, Myron Miedaner of Platteville John (Mona) Miedaner of Homosassa, Fla., Donald (Michiko) Miedaner of Syracuse, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Russell in1993; her parents; three sisters, Katherine Domres, Jean Hupfer, Eunice Anderson; two brothers, Michael and Wendelin Miedaner; and her son-in-law, John "Jack" Mrozinski.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 25 at the Chapel of the Resurrection at the Chippewa Manor, Chippewa Falls with Fr. Victor Inbaraj of Holy Ghost Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m., Wednesday until the time of the service, at the Chippewa Manor Chapel, Chippewa Falls.

LaVern's family requests memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Russell Spry Scholarship Fund in care of the Chippewa Falls Rotary Club or McDonell High School.
