Lenore Overbeek

Lenore N. Overbeek, 98, of Chippewa Falls, formerly of Grant Park, IL died Monday, October 30, 2017 at Our House Memory Care in Chippewa Falls, and while under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.

She was born October 16, 1919 in St. Anne, IL.

On June 20, 1940, Lenore married John Overbeek. They resided in Grant Park, where they farmed, raised their children and made their home.

Lenore was a loving Christian mother and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crossword puzzles and word searches. She couldn’t go shopping at Kmart and Walmart without coming home with a $5 top. She took her first jet ski ride at age 90!

She and John moved to Chippewa Falls on April 24, 2009. Lenore had been a resident of Our House Memory Care since March, 2014.

She is survived by three daughters, Leona Vreeman, Joanne (Roy) Bishir and Beverly (Jim) Woldhuis; brothers, John (Jean) Demik, Bob (Mary) Demik; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and many people who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 69 years, John in 2010; son, Dennis; son-in-law, Bill Vreeman; brother, Homard Boudreau; sisters, Fern Boudreau and Evelyn Demik; brother-in-law, Bob Boudreau; and all of her husband’s brothers and their wives.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, November 1 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Lenore’s son-in-law, Pastor Jim Woldhuis of Chippewa Valley Bible Church officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Kankakee Memorial Gardens in Kankakee, IL on Friday, November 3.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel.

The family would like to express their thanks and sincere gratitude to the staff at Our House Memory Care and to St. Joseph’s Hospice for the exceptional care, love and compassion given to Lenore.

Memorials are appreciated and can be made to Partnership Mexico for support of the Christian School in Torreon Mexico, an organization Lenore held close to her heart and contributed to for many years.
