Leona P. Giedd, 91, of 756 Irvine St., Chippewa Falls, died Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Chippewa Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls.
She was born September 27, 1920 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Louise (Koenig) and Fredrick Hochhalter. She was raised in North Dakota.
Leona married Edwin E. Giedd on October 6, 1940, in Bismarck. She was employed as a Dietary Supervisor at St. Alexus Hospital in Bismarck. She retired in February 1983 and she and her husband moved to Springfield, Oregon. Her husband passed away March 22, 2002 and she moved to Chippewa Manor Retirement Center in April 2006.
Survivors include: a son Gerald (Jan) Giedd of Chippewa Falls; two brothers, Milton (Darlene) Hochhalter of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Theodore (Eileen) Hochhalter of Bismarck, N.D.; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Carol) Giedd of Eau Claire, David (Angie) Giedd of Long Lake, Minn., Darin (Kelly Gorin) Giedd of Mpls, Minn., Jennifer (Andy) Vang of Menomonie; six great-grandchildren, Adam, Austin and Soren Giedd, Marrianna Gorin-Giedd, Thai and Andrew Vang and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, Edwin; two brothers, Edwin and Reuben Hochhalter and one sister, Ruth Case.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 2 at the Chapel of the Resurrection at the Chippewa Manor in Chippewa Falls. A visitation will be held one half hour prior to the service at the chapel. A funeral service for Leona will also be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 9 at West Lawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Eugene, Oregon with visitation one half hour prior. Entombment will be in the Evergreen Mausoleum, Eugene, Oregon.

Robert Hoekstra officiated and music was provided by organist, Marilyn Brace and soloist, Doug Parker. Leona's grandson, Jeffrey Giedd shared personal reflections. Entombment was in the Evergreen Mausoleum in Eugene, Oregon.
