Leonard G. Hart, 84, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Wissota Health & Regional Vent Center in Chippewa Falls.

He was born February 19, 1931 in Chippewa Falls to Ruth E. (O'Neil) and Dr. Leonard Hart. He was raised in Chippewa Falls where he attended school and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1949. He was an exceptional athlete and was captain of the 1948 Chi-Hi football team.

Leonard entered the US Army October 15, 1951 and took his training at Ft. Sam, Houston, Texas. He served in the 37th Medical Field Unit and was stationed in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars, Combat Medical Badge, UN Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in September 1953 and has resided in Chippewa Falls since that time.

Leonard enjoyed reading and walking, especially in Irvine Park.

Survivors include several cousins, including his special cousin, Ellen O'Neil of Chippewa Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents and close cousin, John "Jack" O'Neil.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 26 at the Mae Rowan Ecumenical Chapel at Wissota Health, Chippewa Falls with Fr. Ed Shuttleworth, St. Charles Catholic Church officiating. Interment with military honors will be at 1:00 p.m. at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner.

Friends may call one half hour prior to the service at Tuesday at the chapel.

Leonard's family would like to thank the staff and administration of Wissota Health for their kindness and dedication to Leonard. They became his family during his stay. Thank you also to Mayo Health Hospice for their support.

Memorials to the Irvine Park Endowment Fund at the Chippewa County Community Foundation, McDonell Area Catholic Schools or St. Charles Borromeo Church Endowment Fund in Leonard's honor would be appreciated.
