Lois Helgestad

Lois F. Helgestad, 88, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully at the Chippewa Manor on Friday, November 11, 2016.

On July 9, 1928, Lois was born to George and Floretta (Richardson) Popple in the Town of Eagle Point, WI. She attended First Ward and Chestnut grade school and attended Chippewa Falls High School. Lois was united in marriage to Norman Helgestad on July 3, 1948 in Chippewa Falls. Until the age of 18, Lois worked for Wisconsin Bell. She also worked for Chippewa Woollen, Boston Store and Herbergers all in Chippewa Falls. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls. She enjoyed many church activities, including, quilters, altar guild, bible studies and teaching Sunday school. Lois cherished her time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lois is survived by her daughters, Christine Geissler and Janice (Dennis) Metzdorf both of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Laura (Thomas) Mitchell of Marietta Ga., Trisha Geissler of Chippewa Falls and Phillip (Nicole) Van Helden of De Pere WI; 3 great-grandchildren, Benjamin Mitchell, Adam and Michael Van Helden; sister, Beulah Hanvelt of Inver Grove Heights MN; brother, Roger (Patricia) Popple of Rice Lake; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman in September of 2009; sisters, Merle Horgen and Janice Nelson; brothers, Gordon, Keith and Porter Popple.

A private funeral service will be held.
