Lois E. Michal, 91, of Chippewa Falls, died Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Chippewa Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls.

She was born October 10, 1920, in Eau Claire to Freda (Blomquist) and Leroy Miller. Lois grew up in Cornell and graduated from Cornell High School at the age of 16. Following high school, she worked at the Cornell Paper Mill.

Lois married Raymond Michal on June 5, 1943 in Cornell. They resided in Cornell where Lois raised their four children and made their home. They moved to Eau Claire in 1993. Raymond preceded her in death on April 19, 2004.

While living in Cornell, Lois was a devoted member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was an active leader of the Girl Scouts. She also enjoyed bowling and was a talented seamstress. She knitted and crocheted hundreds of hats and mittens for the local hat/mitten trees, as well as for the overseas soldiers. Lois loved to bake and her specialty was sandbakkels. She will be forever remembered by her grandchildren as the "Sandbakkels Queen."

She is survived by a son, Raymond Jr. (Rita) Michal of Ste. Genevieve, MO; three daughters, Carol (Gene) Crapser of Apple Valley, MN, Mary (Terry) Gingras of Bruce, Peg (Buck) Paulsen of Eau Claire; two brothers, Tom (Judy) Miller of Cornell, Clare Miller of Saugus, CA; ten grandchildren, Holly (David) Merz, Dean Michal, Sarah (Bob) Hodo, Marci (Art) Barragan, Tara (Mark) Meyer, Megan Robinson, Angela (Brian) Sedesky, Kenny (Erica) Gingras, Keith (Maria) Paulsen, Sis Paulsen; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Beatrice Clum; and five brothers, Roger, Donald, Richard "Dickie," Gerald, and Leroy Miller.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 6 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Revs. Rick Hoyme and Robert Hoekstra, officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Monday, March 5 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
