Lois Marie Skoug, 88, of Chippewa Falls, died Saturday, January 28, 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls.
She was born December 7, 1928 in the town of Cleveland to Delbert and Marjorie (Hackett) Stickney. During her childhood, she was active in 4-H work and a member of the State 4-H chorus. She graduated from Cornell High School in 1946 after which she worked in Eau Claire at Stevenson's Apparel and Presto Industries. She also received credits from the UW-Madison.
On October 9, 1948, she married Donald Lane Sargent of Exeter, NH. To this union four children were born; Lenora (Robert) Warnke, Chippewa Falls, WI, Victoria (Rick) Hurlburt, Arvada, CO, John (Anita) Sargent, Cornell, WI and David (Cynthia) Sargent, Cornell, WI.
Lois was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cornell where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and she sang for many weddings and funerals. While raising her family, she worked at the Federated Store and the Ranch Supper Club and was later employed at the Northern Colony & Training Center in Chippewa Falls as an Occupational Therapist Asst. for 23 years, retiring in 1984. She also worked for CESA as a Foster Grandmother for many years in the Chippewa Falls school system.
In 1980, she married Junior Skoug of Strum, Wisconsin where they lived during the summer and spent their winters on South Padre Island, TX, where she was a member of the Bridge Club and made many lasting friendships.
She is survived by her four children, 10 grandchildren, Justin (Mary) Warnke, Geneva, IL, Whitney (Steve) Preusser, Wauconda, IL, Jess (Tiffany) Hurlburt, Arvada, CO, Chelsea (Casey) Conley, Arvada, CO, Nicholas (Cathy) Sargent, Greenville, WI, Katie (Kevin) Klein, Cadott, WI, Jenny (Keven) Blaisdell, Cornell, WI, Joe (Jamie) Rady, Merrimac, WI, Bobbi (Josh) Spangler, Cornell, WI, and Jason Sargent, Clear Lake, WI, as well as 28 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two nephews, Donald Stickney, Cornell, WI, and James (Judy) Stickney, Chicago, IL, and two nieces, Ann (Al) Schroeder, Hudson, WI, and Kerry Stewart, Bloomer, WI.
Lois was predeceased by her mother and father, Delbert and Marjorie (Hackett) Stickney; three brothers, Delbert "Bud", John "Jack", and Fred Stickney; sister, Margaret Collum; two grandchildren, Marcy (Trevor) Larson and Jacob "Jake" Sargent; a beloved nephew, Fred Collum; and niece, Marilyn Burnett.
Lois was a member of a Cribbage Club and Bridge Club in Chippewa Falls which she looked forward to weekly. She was also an active member of the Senior Citizens of Chippewa Falls. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, strawberry picking for friends and family, and watching baseball and football games. She wrote many lovely letters and notes to family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Dr. Barry Boyer officiating. Interment will be in Cornell Cemetery, Cornell, WI.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
