Lois R. Verbracken, 93, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 with her family by her side at Chippewa Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls.
She was born March 19, 1920 in Chippewa Falls to Ruth (Forester) and Arthur Larson. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1938.
Lois married Marvin Turner in 1939. Together, they had two children, Lana and Vicki Lynn. Marvin passed away in 1946. In 1955, she married Van Verbracken. They owned and operated Vans Club 49, retiring in 1981.
Lois was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls. Her favorite pastimes were shopping, playing cards, discussing politics, and watching football and baseball games. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildrens and great-grandchildrens sporting events.
Survivors include a daughter, Lana Turner of Chippewa Falls; two sons, Jim (Kris) Verbracken, David Verbracken, all of Eau Claire; a brother, William (Bernice) Larson of Idaho; five grandchildren, Steven Frederick of Middleton, Tracy (John) Guhl of Chippewa Falls, Andrew (Amy) Kerr of Lodi, Brandon (Courtney) Verbracken, and Nathan Verbracken, all of Eau Claire; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Marvin Turner; daughter, Vicki Lynn Turner in 1961; her second husband, Van Verbracken in 1982; sister, Barbara Jean Doty; and a brother, Glenn Butch Larson.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, July 27 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral chapel.
AFTERSERVICE:
A funeral service for Lois R. Verbracken, 93, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, July 27 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiated and music was provided by Judy Brist and great-granddaughters, Katy and Mary Guhl, who played the cello and the violin. Grandson, Nathan Verbracken and granddaughter, Tracy Guhl read scripture and shared personal reflections.
Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls and casket bearers were Brandon and Nathan Verbracken, Steve and Matthew Frederick, Andy Kerr and Christopher Chapek.
