Lorraine Axness

Lorraine Ruth Augusta (Hader) Axness, of Chippewa Falls, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 6, 2011, while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.

She was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 29, 1927. She attended school there, graduated from Schurz High School and worked at Harris Trust and Savings Bank. In 1949, she married Burton Axness. In 1960, she and her husband moved to Chippewa Falls to raise their two daughters.

Lorraine was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed traveling, bowling and playing cribbage with her husband. She was an avid bird-watcher, enjoyed gardening and especially taking care of her many houseplants. She was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs. Her love of books led her to volunteer at her church libraries. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls.
