SERVICE

Edward Louviere, 81, of Jim Falls, died Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Cornell Area Care Center.
Born March 12, 1932 in Houston, Texas, Edward and his family moved to the San Francisco Bay area, where he graduated from Tamalpais High School. After high school, Ed joined the Air Force serving as a surgical technician from 1950 to 1954.
Honorably discharged, Ed pursued studies at Shasta College in Redding, CA and the University of California Riverside receiving his degree in Engineering. While living in California, Edward worked as a Civil Engineer, later moving to Las Vegas to pursue city planning.
Wanting to experience the changing seasons of the Mid-West, Ed relocated to Chippewa County in 1976, going to work for Short, Elliott, and Hendrickson. Ed worked the remainder of his engineering career for S.E.H. and retired in 1997 giving him more time to devote to the joys of traveling and gardening.
Ed often shared his sense of humor with those he loved through jokes, hand sketched cartoons and thoughtful letters. He enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling, fishing, reading and studying maps. Eds biggest passion, however, was music and he was an avid collector of records and tapes. Loved ones will remember him fondly for the eclectic, one of a kind, mixed tapes that he would make for them on holidays and birthdays. In his deep, resonant radio announcer voice, Ed guided listeners through selections of his favorite songs, Coming to you from The Falls, high on the Chippewa River, where eagles soar
Survivors include his wife Joyce (Wulk) Louviere of Jim Falls; brother Karl (Anna) Louviere of Santa Rosa CA; daughters, Cheryl Louviere of MN and Jennifer Louviere of Eau Claire; step son, Bradley Birch of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Shane Grahs, Ashley Hewitt, Austin Birch; and a great-grandson, Brody Carlson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth (Krustchinsky) and Offey Louviere; and brothers, Joseph and Frank Louviere.
A memorial service is scheduled at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 4 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Paul Gregorson of Jim Falls United Methodist Church, officiating. Following the service, military honors will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 4 at the funeral chapel. Members of the Moose will conduct a funeral ritual in Eds honor at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral chapel.
