Lucille M. Brown, 95, of Eau Claire, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Heatherwood Assisted Living in Eau Claire.

She was born on November 10, 1919 to Herman and Martha (Hagen) Knaack on their farm in Dunn County. She graduated from Menomonie High School in 1938 and attended Eau Claire Business College.

In 1941, she married Clyde W. Brown and they celebrated nearly 65 beautiful years together. Lucille was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will always be remembered as a caring and warm person who touched many lives, both in her work and in her personal life.

Lucille was Deputy Registrar of Vital Statistics for Eau Claire County, Altoona and Augusta for many years. She also was a secretary at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire for several years, retiring in 1976. At that time, Clyde and Lucille moved to their new home on Big Round Lake in Hayward. They returned to live in Eau Claire in 2000.

Lucille was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was very active in church affairs. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, sewing, crocheting, quilting, playing bridge, and gardening. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary #305 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and past member of PBO Ladies Elks Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son, Donald (Marjorie) Brown; grandchildren, Lisa (Joseph) Anderson, Daniel (Jennifer) Brown, Angela (Kevin) Ashley, Randall (Erica) Beyreis, Thomas (Kelly) Beyreis; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Andrea Anderson, Brandy and Maia Brown, Justin and Jenna Ashley, Christian and Olivia Beyreis, Emery Kate, Madeline Lucille, and Will Beyreis; a sister, Vera Stultz Krajewski; and son-in-law, James (Janice) Beyreis. She is further survived by nieces and nephews, Ronald (Helen) Martin, Curt (Diana) Bauer, Rich (Jennie) Stultz, Jackie (Dave) Udell, David (Joanne) Knaack, Gerald (Ann) Knaack, Donald (Sue) Knaack, Randy (Rita) Knaack, Donita (Phil) Follen, Diane (Bob) Wuethrich, and Janet Malnory.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde on February 27, 2006; her daughter, Rogene Beyreis; her brother Herbert Knaack; and a sister-in-law, Geri Knaack Theide.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 1 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with the Pastor Brahm Semmler-Smith, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Garden, town of Washington, Eau Claire County.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Saturday at the church.

Lucille's grandparents, Herman and Erstina Knaack, donated land located near Menomonie in Beyer Settlement in 1876 for a church to be built. St Katherine's Lutheran Church was built by church members including the Knaack family and is still in operation today. Lucille grew up on the Knaack farm just down the road from the church and attended church each Sunday via horse drawn sleigh or buggy. Lucille and her sister Vera along with her son Don and his wife Marge recently attended services at the church where the ladies shared memories with many congregants. Because of its importance to Lucille's family history and honors her religious upbringing, her family would appreciate memorials in Lucille's honor to be designated to St Katherine's Lutheran Church, N4931 572nd St; Menomonie WI 54751, in hopes that it will continue its devotional works for years to come.
