Lydia C. Schumacher, 91, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Chippewa Manor.

She was born June 24, 1925 in the town of Goetz, Chippewa County to Lydia (Spaeth) and August Boettcher. She attended the Baker Grade School and graduated from Cadott High School in1943. Following high school, Lydia attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and the Chippewa Valley Technical College. She worked for several years in the Chippewa County Healthcare System.

On May 29, 1948, Lydia was united in marriage to Ralph E. Schumacher at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cadott. They farmed in the town of Arthur, near Cornell, for several years, then moved to Dundee, IL for a short time. They moved back to the Jim Falls area in 1960, and finally to Chippewa Falls in 1988.

She was a devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls and it's Women of Faith; and was a member of the Senior Citizen's Center in Chippewa Falls.

Lydia will be dearly missed by her husband of 68 years, Ralph of Chippewa Falls; three sons, Paul E. of Lakewood, Mark R. (Janet) of Wautoma, and Daniel J. (Kim) of Ladysmith; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Adam Holman), Matthew, Bethany (Tyler Keepers) and Josiah; one great-grandson, Isaac Holman; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Michael R. in infancy; four sisters, Naomi Bateman, Magdalena Schroder, Dorothy Rosenthal, Laura Boettcher; and four brothers, Alfred, Ernest, Herbert and Henry Boettcher.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 26 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. William Plautz officiating. Interment will be at Countryside Union Cemetery in the town of Goetz following the lunch.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church.
