Lydia Swett

June 23, 1926 — October 25, 2019

Lydia R. Swett, 93, of Chippewa Falls, died Friday, October 25, 2019 at her home.

She was born in Hawaii to Elena (Tadena) and Jacinto R. Runes.

On August 27, 1971, she married Edward Swett in Spokane, Washington.  They moved to Chippewa Falls in 1975.

Lydia was a faithful, devoted member of Zion United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls, where she sang in the choir for many years.  She had a strong faith and wanted to share that with others.  Lydia will be remembered for her huge heart that was filled with the love for music, God and people.  She truly wanted the best for others.  Lydia enjoyed being outdoors in her gardens, chatting on the phone with friends, and loved playing the piano.

She is survived by her son, Clifford (Lynn) Howe of Florida; a sister, Susanah Tadena Runes Bulatao of Gardena, CA; a brother, Jacinto (Mary) Tadena Runes of Englewood, CO; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward on April 21, 2003; a son, Kenneth D. Howe; a daughter, Mamie E. McQuone; two sisters, Angelita Runes LaCuesta and Emiliana R. Menor; and two brothers-in-law, Silverio Bulatao and Peter LaCuesta.

Lydia will be laid to rest next to her husband, Edward at River Memorial Gardens in Dundee, Illinois.

A local service is being arranged, and the West Coast family will be holding a celebration of life in the coming year.
