CELEBRATION OF LIFE:
2-4 p.m., Saturday, AUGUST 5 at the Fill Inn Station, 104 W. Columbia St., Chippewa Falls with a time of remembrance at 2:30 p.m.
M. Elaine Fort, 90, of Chippewa Falls, died June 21, 2017, at Grace Edgewood in Altoona.
Elaine was born July 5, 1926, in New Auburn, WI to Chester and Mabel (Branville) Nicolls. She was raised in Chippewa Falls and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1944.
On June 14, 1947, she married Roger Fort at First Presbyterian Church in Chippewa Falls. They resided in Menomonie from 1959-1969 which resulted in many new friendships and lifelong accomplishments. In 1969 they returned to Chippewa Falls where she was employed at the Chippewa County Clerk of Courts from 1969, until her retirement in 1988. Her position as a deputy clerk allowed her to make close and lasting friendships with coworkers and clients.
Elaine became a member of the Baha'i faith in 1973, living daily in their beliefs that the world is one country and mankind its' citizens.
Baha'i followers believe that when someone dies, the soul is freed from the body and the physical, world and begins a spiritual journey during which it is reunited with God.
Elaine is survived by her daughters, Linda (Roger) Salow of Chippewa Falls, Jane (Jim) Hoefert of La Crosse, WI; daughter-in-law, Vicki (Kevin) Pflieger of Fall Creek; grandchildren, Amy (David) Briggs, Ryan (Susan Zucollo) Salow, Nicolle (Joseph) Davison, Brittany (Scott) Reed, Jaimee Hoefert, Lindsay Hoefert, Kelly Epps and Michael (Sharon) Wiesendanger; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Gaven Smith, Logan, Joshua and Kristin Davison, Clara and Ruby Salow, Makayla, Madison and Aliah Epps, and Chase and Myka Wiesendanger; brother, Wayne (Connie) Nicolls of Juneau, AK; sister-in-law, Maxine O'Connell of Minneapolis, MN; and many loved and treasured nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Mabel; husband, Roger; son, Mark; grandchildren, Gregory Magnuson and Amanda Salow; sister, Muriel Potter; and brothers-in-law, Earl Fort, Barney Potter and Roger Hoepner.
A private family burial was held at Forest Hill Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.
A celebration of life will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, August 5 at the Fill Inn Station, 104 W. Columbia St., Chippewa Falls with a time of remembrance at 2:30 p.m. Come share your memories of Elaine.
