Mabel Louise (Fisher) Steward, age 101, of Chippewa Falls, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. She passed away peacefully at Sacred Heart Hospital following a stroke.
She was born on December 22, 1922 to Mary (Fowler) Fisher and Tom Fisher in Slater, Missouri. During her young adult years, she attended Bob Jones University, was a secretary in the war department of the White House, and played piano for the Billy Graham Crusade. On December 31, 1946, she married Warren Dallas Steward of St. Paul, Minnesota, and they served the Lord together as Pastor and wife in various locations, and served together for the Conservative Baptist Foreign Missions across the world.
Mabel Louise’s greatest passion was serving the Lord and telling others about Jesus. In 1971, she and her husband, Warren Steward, started WWIB Christian Radio Station in Chippewa Falls, 103.7 FM. Mabel Louise ministered to others over the air waves with her program called “At Home with Mabel Louise” for almost 50 years, sharing life lessons from the bible.
Mabel Louise is survived by her four children and their spouses, Terry (Carol) Steward of Chippewa Falls, Konnie Lee of Chippewa Falls, Gregory (Susan) Steward of Chippewa Falls, and Gary (Kelly) Steward of Eau Claire; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Mabel Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Mary (Fowler) Fisher and Tom Fisher; her husband of 47 years, Warren Steward; granddaughter, Tiffany Louise Lee; brothers, Jimmy Fisher and Tommy Fisher; sister, Elizabeth (Fisher) Lemmon.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, January 5 at Crossroads Church in Chippewa Falls with Pastor Wade Duroe officiating. Visitation will begin Friday at church at 10 a.m. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects.
Interment will be at Prairie View Cemetery in the Village of Lake Hallie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Crossroads Church or Western Wisconsin’s Inspirational Broadcaster Inc.
