Makenzie Jane Schabell, 18, of Chippewa Falls, died Thursday, December 17, 2015 surrounded by her family at Ministry St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in Marshfield, after a one year battle with cancer.

She was born September 17, 1997 in Milwaukee to Sarah Johnson and Jarett Schabell. She grew up in Chippewa Falls and currently was a senior at Chi-Hi.

Kenzie's hobbies were crocheting, cooking, drawing and singing. She also enjoyed hanging out with family and friends. She will always be remembered for her silly, yet loving and caring personality, her courage and strengthshe was a trooper and a dare devil. She was a very sweet, smart, sassy, and beautiful young lady, inside and out.

She will be dearly missed by her mother, Sarah (fiance Wilson Davis) Johnson of Chippewa Falls; father, Jarett Schabell; sisters, Makala (Matthew Simmons) Schabell, Marley Schimmel; brother, Ethan Moss; her boyfriend, Dalton Sande; maternal grandfathers, Terry McVinnie, John Crisp; paternal grandparents, Jack Schabell and Jane Foss; paternal great-grandmothers, Mary Foss, Eunice Childers; aunts and uncles, Ryan (Ali) McVinnie, Justin Ausman, Michelle McVinnie; and great-aunts and uncles, Steve (Linda) Johnson, Rick (Deb) Johnson; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandma, Patricia Johnson-McVinnie.

A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, December 22 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Aaron Sturgis officiating.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.

Kenzie's family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to Dr. McManus, Brenda Garragin and all of the nurses on the third floor Pediatrics Unit for the excellent care and compassion shown to Kenzie.
