Marcella J. Job, 85, of Chippewa Falls, town of Tilden, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Wissota Health and Regional Vent Center in Chippewa Falls while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.
She was born August 29, 1927 in Hosmer, South Dakota to Edna (Zaske) and Arthur Will. She graduated from Hosmer High School and from Northern State University with a degree in Elementary Education.
She taught for 19 years in Wyoming, South Dakota and Minnesota.
While teaching in Aberdeen, she attended a St. Patrick's Day dance, where she met the man with whom she would spend her life. Marcella married Marcus Job on May 9, 1953 in Aberdeen, SD. The couple lived in various places, including 20 years in Underwood, MN. In 1993, they moved to a hobby farm in Chippewa Falls to be near their daughter and grandchildren.
Marcella grew up an only child on a farm, so animals quickly became her friends. She remained a lifelong lover of animals, especially cats. Her main hobby was picking wild berries and turning them into delicious pies, jams and jellies. She also enjoyed gardening, canning and was known for her unique dill pickles.
She was a member at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls, where she was active in the women's circles, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school. The onset of Alzheimer's eventually ended all of her activities. Her final years were spent in the care of her husband and daughter.
Survivors include her husband, Marcus; a daughter, Cindy (George) Hopkins, all of Chippewa Falls; three grandchildren, Emily (Andy) Skelton of Chippewa Falls, Marcus Hopkins of Cedar Park, Texas, Katrina Hopkins of White Bear Lake, MN; two great-grandsons, Easton and Emmitt Skelton; four sisters-in-law, Selma Lapp of Eureka, SD, Ruth (Leroy) Ganser of Sunnyside, WA, Marion (Marvin) Hoffman of Leola, SD, and Rosina (Harry) Hilgemann of Rapid City, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother-in-law, Arnold Lapp; and a niece, Sharon Ganser.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, January 18 at our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 1300 Mansfield St., Chippewa Falls, with the Rev. Paul Oppedahl officiating. Interment will on Thursday, January 24 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
