Marion L. Jacobson, 100, of Chippewa Falls, formerly of Cadott and Wausau, died Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Chippewa Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls with her family at her side.

She was born September 22, 1912 in Chippewa county to Mary (Levendusky) and Hans Jacobson. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School. She earned her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire and her Master's Degree at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Marion taught elementary grades in Chippewa County schools and in Cadott, including the one-room Bateman School and Stillson School, where she was delighted to have electric lights and indoor plumbing! She taught 5th and 6th grades at G. D. Jones School in Wausau and taught math at Horace Mann Junior High in Wausau. Later, she was a counselor at Horace Mann Junior High and at Wausau East High. She also taught one year as an Exchange Teacher in Bedford, England on a Fulbright Scholarship.

While living in Wausau, Marion was a member of several educational organizations, Immanuel Lutheran Church, and its altar guild. Fr many years, she volunteered as a docent at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum.

She will be dearly missed by many loving nieces, nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Hilda Aude, Lillian Drake, Marie Polzin, her twin sister, Myra Jacobson; and six brothers, William, Herbert, Harley, Wally, Ervin, and Harold Jacobson.

A funeral service celebrating Marion's life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 25 at the English Lutheran Church of Bateman, Chippewa Falls, with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra, chaplain at the Chippewa Manor, officiating. Burial will follow the service at Brooklawn Cemetery, Cadott.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

Marion's life was an incredible journey having taught school in England, having tea with the Queen Mother, sailing on the USS Queen Mary, sitting on the Great Wall of China, going on an African safari and on a hot air balloon ride over the African landscape. At age 94, she wrote and published two children's books, "Why The Giraffe Had A Long Neck" followed by "Paddy The Lonesome Turtle." In her own words, "I have been blessed by good health, good family and good friends. And I thank The Lord daily for the 100 years He has given me."

"Auntie Marion" had a huge impact on so many people whose paths she crossed, and we were so blessed to have had her in our lives. We will miss you so!
