Martha Marie (Umland) Michaud, age 94, died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family and while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.
Martha was born November 14, 1922 in Great Scott County, town of Buhl, Minnesota, to Thomas and Jane (Eddy) Umland. She was raised in Pence, Wisconsin, moved to Milwaukee during WWII, and was employed at Briggs & Stratton.
On February 7, 1946, Martha married Leslie Edward Michaud at St. Charles Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls. They resided on the Yellow River in the town of Lafayette since 1950.
She will be dearly missed by her son, Larry (JoAnn); two daughters, Marie (Jim) Lambert, Mariann (Peter) Lawrence; grandchildren, Lesley (Joe) Small, Jane Lawrence, Jena Lawrence; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Isaac Small.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; siblings, Stephen Thomas, Jane Ulasich, Ted Umland; and a granddaughter, Sara Bushland.
Martha loved to cook, play cards, and was always a gracious hostess when visiting with family and friends. She was awarded the 70 year VFW Auxiliary Medal for her service in the organization. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was loved by all who met her.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 29, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Msgr. Mark Pierce of Notre Dame Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow at Bateman Cemetery, town of Lafayette.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
