Mary Jo (Lauer) Walker, 78, of Chippewa Falls, passed away quietly in her home on Thursday, April 6, 2017, while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.

Mary Jo was born on August 3, 1938, to Rex and Constance (Lund) Lauer. She attended high school at McDonell Central High School and graduated in 1956. After graduation she married Tom Walker and they had a daughter, Lynda.

Mary Jo worked all her life, but most know her from the high school as the secretary. Her favorite things to do were talk on the phone, read, shop, and spend time with her friends. Her love of animals led her to try and rescue them all, especially cats.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Walker of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Megan Kolpien and Amber Adams; sister, Jackie Anderson; brother, Dan Lauer; two nieces; 1 nephew; and special friend, Tom Cardinal, without him she wouldn't have been able to fulfill her wishes.

She will be missed my many friends and animals, and especially her daughter and granddaughters.

A special thank you to St. Joseph's Hospice, especially Aaron, Cindy, Barb, John, Beth, Linda Balts, and Colleen Kolpien for the care they gave to Mary Jo.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, April 10 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Fr. Mark Pierce officiating. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at a later date.
