Mauretta A. Bresina, 88, of Chippewa Falls, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 12:05 p.m. at home with her family at her side and while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.

Mauretta was born March 4, 1927 to John E. and Alvina (Schultz) Fasbender. She was the oldest of 14 children, and grew up in the Jim Falls area.

On June 28, 1948, she married Clarence R. "Breezy" Bresina. They lived, worked, and raised their seven children in the Chippewa Falls area.

Mauretta worked in the kitchen at St. Joseph's Hospital, also at Falls Bait Shop, and at Tip Top Laundry. She was a member of the Chippewa Falls Catholic Women's Club. She enjoyed get togethers, baking, cooking, fishing, embroidering and she always had a garden, where she would enjoy her flowers. She will be dearly missed by all of her family.

Mauretta is survived by three sons, Clarence W. (Lori) Bresina of Tucson, AZ, Michael J. (Kandi) Bresina of Owen, and John Bresina of Chippewa Falls; three daughters, Carol M. Howard of Fayetteville, NC, Rita A. Bresina of Oshkosh, and JoAnne M. (Thomas) Kvapil of Chippewa Falls; 11 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by five brothers, Robert (Sylvia) Fasbender of Cornell, Lawrence (Maxine) Fasbender of Chippewa Falls, LaVern (Norma) Fasbender of Thorp, Edmond Fasbender of Eau Claire, and John Fasbender of Jim Falls; three sisters, Virginia Fasbender of Stanley, Dorothy Scheidler of Chippewa Falls, Barbara Kane of Chippewa Falls; a brother-in-law, Ray Thomas of AR; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence "Breezy" Bresina; paternal grandparents, Henry and Theresa Fasbender; maternal grandparents, William and Nettie Schultz; a son, William Bresina; a son-in-law, Jesse Howard; three grandchildren, Zachary Bresina, Amanda Bresina, and Jennifer Britten Hanson; two great-grandchildren, Christopher Britten and Quomaine J. Walker; and five sisters, Maida (Edmond) Geissler, Emily (Stanley) Mateski, Diane Thomas, Caroline Fasbender and Ellen Hanson (Gary Ackley).

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 19 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls with Fr. Charlie Richmond and Fr. John Schultz, concelebrating the Mass. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to both the palliative care staff and the hospice staff at St. Joseph's Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness shown to Mauretta.

AFTERSERVICE:

A funeral service for Mauretta A. Bresina, 88, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 19 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls. Fr. Charlie Richmond and Fr. John Schultz, concelebrated the Mass and music was provided by the St. Charles Funeral Choir and organist, Jerry Boorsma. Mauretta's neighbors, Clayton and Leo Schulte were altar servers and great-granddaughters, Jasmine Albert-Walker and Jessica Albert served as gift bearers.

Interment was at Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls, and those serving as casket bearers were grandsons, Jeff Britten and Jon Bresina; and nephews, Brian Kane, Ben Polus, Billy and Ricky Mateski.
