She was born January 8, 1917 in Chippewa Falls to Martha (Pagenkopf) and William Handt. She attended First Ward School and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School. She then graduated from Eau Claire Teacher's College in Eau Claire.

Mildred married Carl Kleinheinz on December 12, 1943 at Mayflower Congregational Church in Minneapolis. She was a homemaker and helped her husband run Ojibwa Golf Course, which they owned and operated from 1928-1959. She golfed with the Thursday morning ladies at Ojibwa. She hit a hole in one at Ojibwa on June 2, 1970 on hole number four using the 120 yard tee. Her wood was a number three. She played golf with her husband, Carl and her daughter, Carla.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls from 1917-2006, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for the Bethel Bible Class and a member of Mission Circle. She then became a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the ladies society. She was also a member of the Women's Auxiliary of Veteran's of WW I Post #2905.

Mildred enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, reading her bible, traveling, sight-seeing, taking short road trips, eating out with friends and shopping.

Survivors include: three daughters, Carla Kleinheinz of Chippewa Falls, Wendy Kleinheinz of Kettle Falls, Wash., Mary (Meredith) Morris of Zion, Ill.; one son, Charles "Chuck" Kleinheinz of Chippewa Falls; a granddaughter, Mary Beth Morris; a grandson, Meredith Morris IV and Mildred's pet dog, Murrie.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Carl on May 31, 1988; three sisters, Pauline Frank, Doris Schick, Maida Hinz; two brothers, Bernard and Robert Handt; her pet dogs, Poochie, Missie and Kiki.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 14 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. William Plautz officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call one half hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mildred's memory may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Zion Lutheran Church, Irvine Park Christmas Village or Chippewa County Humane Association.
