Mildred E. "Millie" Nyhus, 83, died Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Burnett Medical Center in Grantsburg.

She was born November 12, 1931 in Chippewa Falls to Mildred (Isham) and John Soden. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1949. Following high school, Millie worked as a secretary at Zutter's Feed Mill.

On May 20, 1950, she married Duane "Wimp" Nyhus at Trinity United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls. They resided in Eagleton, where Millie made their home and raised their three children. Once her children were grown, Millie went back to work as a secretary at the Northern Center, where she worked for over 25 years.

Millie and Wimp had 63 wonderful years together. They enjoyed fishing, playing cards with friends and traveling. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, listening to music and dancing. Wimp preceded her in death on February 6, 2014 and due to her health, Millie moved to Continuing Care Center in Grantsburg to be near her son.

Survivors include a son, Tom Nyhus of Webster; daughter, Cheryl (Mark) Edwards of Crystal, MN; son-in-law, Harold Hansen of Menomonie; a sister, Ann Anderson of Chippewa Falls; a sister-in-law, Juanita Soden of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Jennifer (Paul Clark) Nyhus, Jill (Chuck) Bowe, Julie (Dave) Bohl, all of Bloomer, John (Jennifer) Nyhus of Eau Claire, Joel (Emily) Hansen of Menomonie, Kurt Hansen of Milwaukee, Eric Edwards of Crystal, MN; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Duane; a daughter, Terri Hansen; great-grandson, Gavin Nyhus; two sisters, Margaret Meindel and Rosemary Anderson; and five brothers, Milo, Ezra, Gene, Lee and William Soden.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 5 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Eagleton with the Rev. Philip Pitt officiating. Burial will follow in Eagleton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Johns Lutheran Church in Eagleton, 15121 145th St., Bloomer, WI 54724.
