Murl D. Wells, 72, of Thorp, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at her home.

She was born May 26, 1942 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Bessie and Frank Evans. Murl grew up in the carnival and as a young girl, helped her family by running the games.

On June 1, 1960, she married Fred Wells. They lived in Owen for many years, before moving to Thorp in 1993 where they have resided since.

She is survived by her husband Fred; daughters, Bessie (Linus) Williams of Withee, Genie (Jesse) Jarocki of Owen; sons, Frank (Fanny) of Baraboo, Henry (Minnie) of Baton Rouge, LA, Claude (Rachel) of Perryville, MO; grandchildren, Hezekiah, Vashtie, Scarlett, Joseph, Sarah, Michael, Molly, Claude, Milly, Jeremiah, Genie, Gracie, and Ziva; nine great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Phyllis.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 29, 2014 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Pastor Jason Snapp officiating. Interment will be at Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral chapel.
