Myrna R. Zimpel, 81, of Bloomer, town of Woodmohr, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Hetzel's Care Center in Bloomer.

She was born July 26, 1934 in Dorchester, WI to Pauline (Boor) and Norbert Laabs.

On June 22, 1963, Myrna married her true love, Delbert W. Zimpel in Dorchester. They moved to Chippewa Falls in 1967, where Myrna was a music teacher in the Chippewa Falls elementary schools. She retired from teaching in 1996.

Along with music, Myrna's other passion was horses. She and Delbert owned and operated a horse ranch in the town of Lafayette and at one time had 32 horses. She was a leader in the 4H Club for many years. Myrna also enjoyed crafts and made beautiful needlework for her family and friends.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Delbert of Bloomer; a son, David Zimpel of Mauston; a daughter, Bethe Kay (Carl) Amato of Spencer, Tenn.; a sister, Nancy (Richard) Hurth of Escanaba, Mich.; grandchildren, Erin (David) Paris of St. Petersburg, Fla., Ryan McDowall of Tampa, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Grayson Paris.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Guy R. Zimpel; and a daughter-in-law, Sherrill Zimpel.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 20 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. William Plautz officiating. Interment will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at Bateman Cemetery, town of Lafayette, Chippewa County.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, July 19 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
