Nancy Jane Flynn, 69, of Chippewa Falls, town of Wheaton, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Nancy was born February 12, 1949 in Neillsville to Helen (Mayer) and George Dimmitt. She was raised on a small farm near Humbird, Wisconsin with her two sisters and two brothers. She grew up picking strawberries and cucumbers. Nancy attended St. Joseph's Fairview Catholic Church, which was on the hill behind their farm. She received all of her sacraments there.
She went to Humbird Elementary School, then graduated from Alma Center Lincoln High School, class of 1967. Following high school, she moved to Eau Claire and worked at Gould for 15 years. She then took a job with the City of Chippewa Falls, where she worked in the Water Dept. and the City Clerk's office. She retired after 28 years in June of 2011.
Nancy was truly all about her family. She loved having them around and reminiscing about her childhood. She was a member of Holy Ghost's choir and helped plan the annual picnic. She enjoyed having breakfast with her siblings and her friends. She also enjoyed going to thrift-sales and became quite a knick-knack enthusiast! Nancy had a sweet tooth and enjoyed ice cream and baking an assortment of Christmas cookies and treats. She always had plenty of energy and she loved to dance, Zumba, and garden. She will be remembered for her beautiful flower gardens that she would spend hours tending.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Amanda (Bill) Calmbacher of Burnsville, MN; a son, Neil Flynn of Chippewa Falls; a sister, Rita Ulesich of Menomonie; two brothers, Bill (Pat) Dimmitt of Osseo, Rick (Pam) Dimmitt of Merrill; brother-in-law, Larry Schmidt of Tenn.; a grandson, Joey Calmbacher of Burnsville; many nieces and nephews; her beloved grand-cat, Lemon; and grand-dogs, Ruby, Frankie and Cheyenne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Rosemary Schmidt; and her brother-in-law, Jim Ulesich.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 13 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls with Fr. Justin Kizewski officiating. Interment will be held in the spring at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Humbird.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Monday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. The rosary led by Sr. Yvonne Hiess will be recited at 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.
