Arlene Mathilda Florence (Hanson) Parent, age 84, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully on Monday, December 7, 2015, at the Azura Memory Care in Eau Claire WI.
Arlene was born on May 9, 1931, in Wheeler, WI, to Herman and Alma (Larson) Hanson. She was raised in the township of Hay River, Dunn County, WI. Arlene married Richard Joseph Parent on January 17, 1948. They owned a farm in Hay River for 8 years. In 1955, they moved to Chippewa Falls where they raised their family. She enjoyed quilting, ballroom dancing, camping and traveling with her family. Most of all, Arlene loved spending time with her family and friends during the holidays. She will be loved and missed by everyone who knew her.
Arlene is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Parent of Minneapolis, Sharon Zimmerman of Eau Claire, Lorena Barlow of Eau Claire, Linda (David) Loschko of Chippewa Falls, and Janice (Kevin) Henderson of Cadott; sons, James (Bonnie) Parent of Chetek and David (Ruth Ann) Parent of Knapp; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Steies; brother, Melvin (Viv) Hanson; sisters-in-law, Kathy Hanson and Evelyn Timblin; brother-in-law, Leonard Parent; along with many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Joseph Parent and an infant daughter; brother, Herbert Hanson and an infant brother; and brother-in-law, Johnny Steies.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia Street, Chippewa Falls, with a visitation beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the chapel. Rev. Robert Hoekstra will be officiating. Interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery, Village of Lake Hallie, Chippewa County.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Azura Memory Care and Mayo Hospice for all their wonderful care given to their mom.
