Rae L. Gamelin, 76, of Chippewa Falls, formerly of Ladysmith, died Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Rutledge Home Assisted Living in Chippewa Falls.
She was born October 16, 1940 to Frances (Grothe) and Joseph Gamelin. She grew up in Forest Lake, Minn. and graduated from high school there. Rae continued her education at the UW-River Falls, where she earned a degree in Education. She taught school until her children were born. She then farmed on her family's dairy farm for over 25 years.
While living on the farm, Rae enjoyed caring for the animals, especially the horses.
In 1985, she married Doug Page and they resided in Ladysmith. The couple later divorced but still loved each other and remained friends. Rae's love for reading led her to become a librarian at the Ladysmith Public Library for many years. When Rae's dementia starting getting to where she could no longer care for herself, she moved to the Rutledge Home in Chippewa Falls.
She is survived by her children, Penny Girdeen of Ellsworth, Terri Volkmann of Chippewa Falls, and Scott Volkmann of Chippewa Falls; her best friend and former husband, Doug Page; seven grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Milton Gamelin and Joan Gamelin Midboe.
A private family service will be held with interment in the Mann Valley Cemetery in River Falls.
