Ramona Zutter, age 77 of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice at the Dove Healthcare-Wissota Health & Regional Vent Center in Chippewa Falls on Friday, January 8, 2016.
Mona was born on August 14, 1938, in Wheeler WI, to Robert and Irene (Mirrow) Goodell. On June 7, 1958, she married Donald S. Zutter, Colonel USA Retired.
Mona was a long time member of Central Lutheran Church, PEO Chapter AB; WI Laureate Alpha Beta Sorority, ELKS Ladies, and enjoyed her book club and coffee group. She enjoyed her years as a Docent at the Cook Rutledge Mansion where she also served on the Board of Directors.
For 26 years she was as an accomplished Army wife, moving to numerous states across the USA and to France and Germany. Since Don was often away from home, she skillfully raised her three boys and instilled strong values in them. She was also eager to comfort and provide assistance to the young wives of junior officers and enlisted soldiers.
Mona had a passion for cruising and traveling to interesting and far away spots. Yet, Hawaii was her 'home away from home'. She loved working in her flower gardens and was so proud of her boys and their families. She truly enjoyed the frequent talks with her sister and being with her many friends. Family and friends spent many happy times around her dinner table enjoying her conversation and wonderfully prepared meals. Even in her last days she was still concerned and thinking about the needs of others.
She is survived by her husband, Don; children, Jeffrey (Susan) Zutter of Pittsburg, PA, Stephen (Jane) Zutter of Hancock, MI, and Scott (Sally) Zutter of Cameron Park, CA; sister, Sandra (David) Solberg of Billings, MT; grandchildren, Jeffrey Jr. and Jonathan Zutter, Katie and Julia Zutter, and Mitchell and Monica Zutter; great-granddaughters, Layla, Sofia, Samantha and Willow Zutter; nieces and nephews Jill Oswald, Troy Solberg, Beca McPherson and Matt Solberg; and brother-in-law, Dennis Zutter.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Central Lutheran Church, 28 E. Columbia Street, Chippewa Falls, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Aaron Sturgis will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517 Topeka, KS, 66675.
