Raymond E. Peterson, 96, of Chippewa Falls, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Chippewa Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls.
He was born July 22, 1917 in the town of Worden, Clark County to Mary (Miller) and Elmer Peterson. He was raised in Stanley and graduated from Stanley High School in 1935. He worked at the Farmers Store in Stanley.
Ray married Alice Buchholz on December 21, 1942 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. They moved to Jim Falls in 1960, where they owned and operated Petersons Grocery until selling it in 1974. They continued to live in Jim Falls where he was a fire alarm salesman. They then moved to Chippewa Falls in 1979. Alice preceded him in death on December 28, 1989.
In 1991, he married Olive Miller in Texas. They resided in Chippewa Falls.
Ray was a member of the Jim Falls Lions Club and was the Fire Chief of the Jim Falls Fire Department for many years. He was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church in Stanley.
Survivors include his wife, Olive of Chippewa Falls; a brother, Donald Peterson of Kent, Washington; and a sister-in-law, Lillian Bennett of Eau Claire.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Alice; three sisters, Verona Jensen, Viola Urquhart, Ilene Luedtke; and three brothers, Leland, Irvin and Walter Peterson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 4 at Grace Baptist Church, 11591 17th Ave. Chippewa Falls, with Pastor Tyler Ewer of Heritage Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
AFTERSERVICE
A funeral service for Raymond E. Peterson, 96, of Chippewa Falls was held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 4 at Grace Baptist Church, village of Lake Hallie. The Rev. Tyler Ewer officiated and music was provided by organist, Julie Dunn and vocalists, Molly and Jared Goebel. Personal reflections were given by family friend Michael Dunn. Interment was in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie. Casket bearers were Kevin Hagen, Phil Miller, Daniel and David Dunn, Robert and John Gerber. Honorary casket bearers were Donald and Richard Peterson.
