Raymond Otto Steinke, age 96 of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at the Chippewa Manor.
Raymond was born on July 29, 1919 to Otto and Minnie (Knippel) Steinke in the town of Spring Brook, Dunn County Wisconsin. He married Ruth Fisher in Menomonie WI on June 6, 1946. Together they lived and farmed in the town of Weston, Dunn County WI, until moving to Chippewa Falls in 1958. Raymond worked at the Northern Center Farm until his retirement in 1982.
Ray was avid fisherman and always smiled when his wife caught more fish. He enjoyed his 10 mile bike ride every day until the age of 91. Once he stopped bike riding, he was sure to walk at least 2 miles a day. He loved the outdoors and spending time in his garden. He grew the most amazing vegetables & beautiful flowers. He enjoyed his granddaughters and hearing about their latest & crazy adventures. He lived a very long healthy life & will be missed greatly by his family.
Ray is survived by his son, Dale (Deborah) Steinke of Chippewa Falls; granddaughters, Cari (Patrick) Bowe of Chippewa Falls and Jill Steinke of Dubai, UAE; great-grandchildren, Megan and Cade Bowe; along with his nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth and his siblings.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2015, at the Chapel of the Resurrection at the Chippewa Manor, 222 Chapman Road, Chippewa Falls, WI, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Robert Hoekstra will be officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Chapel of the Resurrection at the Chippewa Manor.
