Reid M. Trippler, 70, of Jump River, formerly of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at his residence.

He was born February 26, 1942 in Manitowoc to Catherine (Halvorson) and Mark Trippler. He attended St. Charles grade school and McDonnell High School. At age 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving honorably for four years during the Cuban Missle Crisis.

Reid married Kathleen Hasemer on December 1, 1962 and later divorced.

He was employed at Uniroyal in Eau Claire until the company closed. He then worked at SFR in Cadott, retiring at age 62.

Following his retirement, Reid moved to his cabin in Jump River. He enjoyed hunting, watching the Green Bay Packers, four wheeling and spending time with his friends and family. He also enjoyed a good game of Texas Hold'em.

Survivors include: a daughter, Tracey (Ken) Mitich of Hudson; three sons, Scott (Tracy) Trippler of Eau Claire, Dale Trippler of Chippewa Falls, Dean Trippler of Eau Claire; a brother Neil Trippler of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren, Bryan, Kevin, Jennifer, Rachel, Blake and Kennedy Trippler, Kayla Mitich, Bailey Decker; his beagle and best friend, Buddy; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Scott Trippler; a sister-in-law, Jean Trippler and daughter-in-law, Nancy Trippler.

Reid inspired so many people and he was a friend to everyone. He had so much life in him and had a second family up in Jump River. He took so many people under his wing and had a huge heart. He was known as the best storyteller around and made everyone feel important and special. No matter where he went, he knew someone, somehow. He loved to play practical jokes and had such a mischievous spirit. He made a memorable impact on everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, March 25 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.

A visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at the funeral chapel.

A graveside service will be at 12 p.m., Monday, March 26 at the Mount Nebo Cemetery in Jump River.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.

AFTERSERVICE

A funeral service for Reid M. Trippler, 70, of Jump River, formerly of Chippewa Falls, was held at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiated and family and friends shared stories and memories of Reid.

Military honors were conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council and Alex Bohan bugled Taps.

Interment was at Mount Nebo Cemetery, town of Jump River, Taylor County.
