Richard W. "Dick" Clark, 79, of Chippewa Falls, died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Wissota Health and Regional Vent Center.
He was born August 8, 1935 in Chippewa Falls to Ecco (Johnson) and Dayton Clark. He graduated from high school in Whittier, CA and returned to Chippewa Falls in 1953.
Dick served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1956.
Dick married Shirley Runkle on December 11, 1971 in Chippewa Falls. Dick and Shirley loved to travel, taking many driving trips all over the country.
He worked as a foreman at National Presto Industries in Eau Claire. He then moved to Washington where he worked in road construction for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Sally (Craig) Hanson of Sumner, WA; step daughter, Brenda (William) Weable of Algona, WA; a step son, Rodney (Carol) Barnes of Spring Green, WI; several step grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley on July 7, 2012; a daughter, Roxie; a son, Stevie; two sisters, Patricia Retzlaff, Sandy Clark; two brothers, Bill and Gail Clark.
Dick was someone who made people smile. He was a friend to everyone he met. He was more of a dad and grandpa to his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and will be dearly missed by Scott (Shelly) Retzlaff and their children, Ben, Garett and Sydney; Jean (John) Neira and their children, Tony and Maria; Barb (Scott) Armstrong and their children, Lindsey and Angie; Donna Schmaltz and her children, Steve and Amber; and special friends, Gene and Kathy Lee.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 3 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Aaron Sturgis officiating. Interment with military honors provided by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dick's honor may go to Central Lutheran Church.
AFTERSERVICE
A memorial service for Richard W. "Dick" Clark, 79, of Chippewa Falls was held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 3 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Aaron Sturgis officiated, music was provided by Christine Hitt and the eulogy was given by nephew John Neira.
Interment with military rites conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls with Taps bugled by John Francis.
