Richard Francis Lucas, age 77, of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025.
Born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Richard was raised in Bloomer. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. This is where he met Barbara. They married shortly after and had five children. They lived in Chippewa Falls, where Rick was a science teacher for 30 years, inspiring countless students with his passion for learning. Rick had a brilliant photographic memory, and he was a patient teacher. He strived for perfection from himself and his students, but he was always proud of the results.
Rick had countless hobbies and interests. He was an avid outdoorsman, cyclist, artist, fisherman, carpenter, mechanic, and builder. He completed an amazing journey cycling around the Great Lakes! Rick loved to travel, especially to the winter home in North Carolina, where he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Rick was devoted to his family, cherishing the love of his wife, Barbara Emily Bauer, whom he married on June 15, 1974. Barb gave all of her heart to keep him healthy.
He was a proud and loving father to his five children: Steve, Sam, Matt, Jack, and Laurel. He was a proud grandfather to Alex, Madison, Mckenzie, Valerie, and Jacob. Rick was the best father and teacher that we could ever have.
Richard will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his genuine smile, depth of knowledge on so many subjects, willingness to help others, and his unwavering dedication to his family and loved ones.
Rick is survived by his wife, Barb; children Steve (Heather) Lucas of Mankato, MN, Sam (Karly) Lucas of Charlotte, NC, Matt (Cheryl) Lucas of Las Vegas, NV, Jack Lucas of Bloomer, and Laurel Lucas (fiancé Adam Missfeldt) of Bloomer; grandchildren Alex, Mckenzie, Jacob, Madison, and Valerie Lucas.
