Richard Wohlbier

Richard J. Wohlbier, 76, of Chippewa Falls, died Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Transitions at Wissota Health in Chippewa Falls.

He was born October 21, 1934 in Chippewa Falls to Thora (Thompson) and Walter Wohlbier. He grew up in Chippewa Falls, where he also attended school.

Richard served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1953, during the Korean Conflict.

He married Judith Gatten on February 13, 1960 in Chippewa Falls. They resided in Stevens Point for 26 years, where Richard worked as an engineer on the Soo Line Railroad. After his retirement in 1989, the couple moved back to Chippewa Falls.

He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church; an active member of the Chippewa Falls Lions Club; a member of the Chippewa Falls Rod and Gun Club; and being an avid fisherman, was one of the last surviving members of "The Bridge Club."
