Robert R. "Bob" Blake, 89, of 18221 57th Ave., Chippewa Falls, Town of Lafayette, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Wissota Health & Regional Vent Center in Chippewa Falls.
He was born, along with his twin sister, Bernice, on June 25, 1921 in Rutland, Ohio to Ralph and Ethel (Kincaid) Blake. His childhood was spent in Columbus, Ohio, where he graduated from North High School. He attended Ohio State University until his education was interrupted by WWII. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard on July 16, 1942 and served honorably in the Pacific Theatre until September 6, 1945. Much of this time he was stationed in Pearl Harbor where he was part of scouting missions in the Central and South Pacific. He was later sent to Eau Claire, where he met Doris Bassette.
Bob and Doris were married at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls on May 29, 1947 and have resided in Chippewa Falls since that time.
