Robert G. Briggs, 79, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully at home on Friday, December 5, 2014 with his family near him and while under the care of Mayo Hospice.

He was born May 21, 1935 in Milwaukee County. He grew up at the Northern Center in Chippewa Falls and left therearound 1970. He lived in various homes over the years and while living in Chippewa Falls, met Janell and Kenny Briggs anda verymeaningful friendship began. Although they were not related, the Briggs' took Robert into their home in 2006 and he became part of theirfamily.

Robert was a friendly,outgoing man. Janell often thought he knew people in passing, but it was just his personality to stop and chat with everyone. In earlier years, he was often seen around Chippewa Falls in his overall pants rolled up, smiling and waving to the cars going by. In the more recent years, he could be seen on the Division Street Corner in the evenings, smiling and wavingas the cars wouldgo by.

Robert loved clocks and was fascinated by them. He enjoyed taking them apart and putting them back together. He also enjoyed music, and played the harmonica and the guitar. He often told how hetaught himself to play both at the same time and enjoyed entertaining people with his talent. Robert and Janell would sometimes play instruments together, Robert on the guitar and Janell on the piano. He liked watching "real" TV - History Channel, Animal Planet and the Weather Channel. He especially liked showing those who came to the house to care for him, how to play Spider Solitaire on his computer.

Abig thank you to all those who provided care for him, including Mayo Hospice, Midelfort Clinic, Luther Hospital, ContinuUs, Chippewa County Home Health, St Joseph's Hospital Hospice, and anyone not specifically mentioned here was sincerely appreciated as well.

He is survived by his family (caregivers), Janell and Kenny Briggs and many special friends.

A funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, December 11 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Jim Woldhuis OF Chippewa Valley Bible Church officiating. Spring burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.

AFTERSERVICE

A funeral service for Robert G. Briggs, 79, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, December 11 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. Pastor Jim Woldhuis of Chippewa Valley Bible Church officiated and personal reflections were given by Janell Briggs. Spring interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls
