Robert J. "Bob" Gannon, 89, of the Village of Lake Hallie, Chippewa Falls died at his home on Wednesday, September 16, 2015.
Bob was born on August 9, 1926 in Chippewa Falls to Valentine and Myrene (Clark) Gannon. He grew up in the town of Lafayette and went to Bluff Grade School and Chippewa Falls High School. After graduating he enlisted in the US Navy and served from July 26, 1944 until his honorable discharge on June 8, 1946. Bob then began working at Uniroyal in Eau Claire. During a downtime at Uniroyal Bob decided to reenlist in the Navy and served again from March 25, 1947 until March 19, 1952.
On November 1, 1952 Bob married Beverly Olson at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls. Bob enjoyed being outdoors; fishing, hunting, golfing and snowmobiling. For many years he served as an instructor for snowmobile safety. Bob was an active member at Faith Lutheran Church in various roles. He served as a Sunday School teacher, church elder and usher over the years. In later years he enjoyed playing cribbage at the Chippewa Falls Senior Center.
Bob is survived by his children, Paul (Rhonda) Gannon of Neenah, WI, Jim Gannon of Eau Claire, Dawn (Jack) Connell of Eau Claire, and Mark (Becky Swan) Gannon of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Corena (Greg) Seefeld, Jill (Patrick) FitzSimons, Warren (Kaylene) Connell, Edward Connell, Jacob (Jackie Wiertelak) Connell, Sarah Connell, Cody Gannon, and Gared Gannon; great-grandchildren, Colin FitzSimons and Seth Brideneecker; and brother, Patrick (Charlene) Gannon of Melbourne, FL. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly in 1998; infant sons, Robert and Timothy; brothers, Ralph "Tom" Gannon, Valentine Gannon; and infant brother, Neil Gannon.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 21 at Faith Lutheran Church, 733 Woodward Ave., Chippewa Falls with Rev. William Plautz officiating. Interment will be at Prairie View Cemetery, Village of Lake Hallie with Military Honors provided by Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 20 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E Columbia St., Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
Memorials are preferred to Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls.
