Robert T. "Bob" Hall, 95, of the town of Lafayette, Chippewa Falls, passed away peacefully at home while being cared for by his family on Friday, March 10, 2017.
He was born March 29, 1921 in Chippewa Falls to Clara (Hilsteadt) and Rufus Hall.
On June 11, 1941, Bob married Lucille M. Ryan in Chippewa Falls. They raised six children in the town of Lafayette. He was a wonderful Father,Grandpa, Bampa and friend to many. Bob was a lifelong member of St. Simeon's Episcopal Church in Lafayette.
While schooling only went through the 8th grade for Bob in the 1930's, he had educated hands and a mechanical mind. He traded a bicycle for a Model T (with 2 non-working engines) when he was 13 and the rest is history.
Bob worked as a farmer, a milk truck driver for Bud Roycraft and for Kohl's Auto and Chilson Auto. After he "retired" he had a steady stream of side jobs working on neighborhood tractors, cars and trucks and whatever else needed fixing. He also enjoyed helping out at a local horse ranch for the last 20 years.
While never afraid of a hard days work, he loved to have fun too. He was a very good bowler and horseshoe player as his many trophies show.
Summer Sunday afternoons meant going to watch the Lafayette Indians play baseball, and afterwards meeting up at Lawler's to visit with friends, where a good time was had by all.
His vacation each year was for deer hunting in November, with Weiner and Willie and the crew. These hunting trips were always considered a success, even if he didn't bring home a deer.
Survivors include his six children and 11 grandchildren: Shirley (Randy) Matherne of Eau Claire; Carol (Phillip) Marten of Eau Claire and their three children, David (Linda), Timothy (Tina), Sara (Michael) Leigl; Jane Hiess of Chippewa Falls and her three children, Jason (Kellie), Jennifer (Richard) Ruf, Julie (Brad) Lyberg; James (Julie) Hall of Chippewa Falls and their three children, William (Karen), Robert (Sarah), Ryan; Linda (Charles) McLeod of Eau Claire; and Chuck (Katie) Hall of Chippewa Falls and their two children, Kelsey and Nolan; sisters-in-law, Margaret Krumenauer of Chippewa Falls, Mary Jane Bourget of Cadott; 13 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucille on September 27, 1995; a son-in-law, Jerome "Jerry" Hiess; a sister, Blanche Hardy McIlquham; a brother, Charles Hall; and a nephew, Jerrold Hardy.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 14 at the Chapel of the Resurrection at the Chippewa Manor with Fr. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Interment will be at Prairie View Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Monday, March 13 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the Chippewa Manor.
Our family would especially like to thank Kathy Harings, for being Dad's "Bestest" friend for the last 20 plus years while keeping him busy on the ranch. We also thank HSHS St. Joseph's Hospice, for their assistance. We will all miss his warm loving eyes and smile and the look of love he had for his family and friends...Rest in Peace, Dad.
