Robert P. "Bob" Mills, 65, of the town of Lafayette, Chippewa Falls, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Oakwood Villa in Altoona while under the care of Mayo Clinic Hospice.

He was born December 7, 1949 in Boston, MA to Jeanette (Bears) and Harry Beach Mills.

Bob served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1968-69.

On July 7, 1990 he married Hertha Knutson in Fountain, Colorado.

For most of his life, Bob owned and operated his own handyman business, then worked in maintenance at Shopko. Bob proudly started the ministry "Freedom Through Fellowship," in which he remodeled houses for veterans, specifically for homeless veterans. He was also dedicated to helping people with addictions and helping them into recovery.

He is survived by his wife, Hertha of Chippewa Falls; his five children; four step-daughters, Mary Ann Parker, Silvia Knutson-Barr, Brenda Knutson, Angie Hogan; two step-sons, David Knutson, Peter Koenig; a sister, Jeannette Borges of Plaistow, NH; four brothers, Ron (Robin) Mills of Hampstead, NH, Harry (Sue) Mills of Norwell, MA, Bill Mills of Bradford, NH, Ken (Debbie) Mills of Kingston, NH, Eddie (Cheryl) Mills of Deer Isle, ME; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 3 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Perry Polnaszek of Fellowship Christian Church, Chippewa Falls officiating. Interment with military honors will be at a later date in Bateman Cemetery, town of Lafayette.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
