Robert E. Moats, 84, of Elk Mound, died peacefully at Comforts of Home in Menomonie, WI, on Monday, May 7, 2018.
Robert was born on October 18, 1933, to Bert and Alma (Adams) Moats in Eau Claire. He married Alene Aubart on January 6, 1954, in Charlston, NC. Robert and Alene resided most of their married life in Elk Mound, raising three children. They also had a foreign exchange daughter, Gabriela. She and her family remain very special to the Moats family.
Bob served his country with the US Navy from 1952 until his Honorable Discharge in 1956. He worked at UW Stout from 1965 to 1996 as a Maintenance Engineer. Bob served on the Elk Mound School Board as Treasurer from 1973 to 1982. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Elk Mound.
Some of Bobs hobbies included making maple syrup, mens golf league, dart ball with his church, and attending Navy Reunions. He went to many toy shows and county fairs with his restored hit-and-miss engines and John Deere 50 tractor, along with his 1948 Tucker Car Exhibit.
Bob was a genuine, honest, and caring man who had a positive influence on his community and church. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and would speak highly of them often. Bob was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loyal friend that will be missed by all who knew him.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Joy (Guenther) Nieder of Middleville, MI, Kimberly (Wayne) Anderson of Elk Mound, WI and Gabriela Bishop of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Holly Moats, Codie (Samantha) Nieder, Olivia Nieder, Ashley Nieder, Sam Nieder, Blake (Megan) Anderson, Lance (Kelsey) Anderson, Jack Bishop, Cindy Bishop, and Sophia Bishop; great-grandchildren, Kinsey, Levi, Dalton, and Piper; brother, Glen Moats; former wife, Karen Bloodhart; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alene; son, Bruce Moats; sister, Vera Lindsay; and brothers, Jim, Ray, and Lloyd Moats.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 105 S. Holly Ave, Elk Mound, with Pastor Allen Christensen officiating. Interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie, with Military Honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
The visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church with a lunch being served during that time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity United Methodist Church, Alzheimer’s or Diabetes association.
