MEMORIAL GATHERING

Robert L. Peterson, 89, of Chippewa Falls, town of Anson, died Friday, March 14, 2014 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire.
He was born September 21, 1924 in Chippewa Falls the son of Louise (Hopen) and Peter Peterson. He grew up in Chippewa Falls and was raised by his brother, Eugene and sister, Lorraine after he lost his mother at an early age.
He served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Tippecanoe AO21 during WW II.
Robert married Betty J. Colins on August 5, 1947 in Chippewa Falls. He worked for Woolworths, Sally Ann Bakery, Badger Pharmacy and Eau Claire Co-op Bakery.
He loved fishing, having coffee at Lindsay's with his buddies and in his later years, cruising the neighborhood on his lawn tractor or golf cart. He enjoyed making pies and lefse for his family. His pie crust cookies were the best! He especially enjoyed the annual Peterson family lutefisk and lefse dinners, followed by many games of Peterson speed smear! The many cherished moments with our dad and grandpa will never be forgotten.
Survivors include three sons, David L. (Yvonne), Jim (Sandy) all of Chippewa Falls, Mike (Holly) of South Range; two daughters, Karen Bohlinger of Eau Claire, Tracy (John) Pecka of Chippewa Falls; a brother, Eugene Peterson of Menomonie; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty on May 28, 2010; a sister, Lorraine Wilcox; a brother, Myron Peterson; an infant son and an infant great-grandson.
A memorial gathering will be held from 1-4 p.m., Sunday, March 23 at Avalon Hotel banquet room in Chippewa Falls with a brief service to follow.
