Rodney E. Cloutier, 76, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at his home.
He was born January 11, 1936 in Chippewa Falls to Beatrice (Poirier) and Edward Cloutier. He grew up in Chippewa Falls, where he also graduated from high school in 1954.
Rod served in the U.S. Army from 1956-59 and from 1961-62, when he was honorably discharged.
On August 21, 1961, he married Janice Postl at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls. Together they had four children. They later divorced.
Rod worked as a lineman technician for the telephone company until his retirement. One of his favorite pastimes was hunting and he was a lifelong member of the NRA. He also loved ballroom dancing. He had his own tuxedo and enjoyed attending area dances.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.
Survivors include his daughter, Mischell (Jon) Welke; sons, Keith (Cheryl) Cloutier, all of Chippewa Falls, Dan (Kim) Cloutier of Forest Lake , MN; a sister, Isla Cloutier of Eau Claire; a brother, Arlan (Kathy) Cloutier of Chippewa Falls; and nine grandchildren, Justin, Jonathon (Naomi), Derek (Crystal), Lauren (Lee), Hunter, Sophia, Danny, Remington and Logan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Bill in 2010.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Tuesday, August 21 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Revs. Paul Tiefel and Bruce Naumann, of Messiah Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, officiating. Interment with military honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
AFTERSERVICE
A funeral service for Rodney E. Cloutier, 76, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 12 p.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Paul Tiefel and Rev. Bruce Naumann of Messiah Lutheran Church in Eau Claire officiated.
Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery in Chippewa Falls with military honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council and Thomas Eder Jr. bugled "Taps." Casket bearers were grandsons, Derek, Hunter, Danny, Logan and Remington Cloutier, Justin and Jonathon Welke.
