Rod was a kind and gentle man who willingly gave to others that which he learned as a child and carried with him through the rest of his life: lessons of faith, respect, and love. He cared deeply for his family, his wife and his children. He ran the good race and finished magnificently.

If I can stop one heart from breaking,

I shall not live in vain;

If I can ease one life the aching,

Or cool one pain,

or help one fainting robin

Unto his nest again,

I shall not live in vain.

Emily Dickinson
